Maggi
has taught and trained family dog obedience at some of the top training
and boarding kennels in Western Washington both as staff trainer and
head trainer. She
also assisted and taught agility for the Rainer Agility Team and MAC
Agility Center. As
head trainer at the Canine
Country Club she created a new training program that focused
on the use of positive feedback to the dog for behavioral issues,
socialization, and manners. To learn more about her training philosophy

Y2K began with a bang as Maggi started her own business, Dogworks. She continues to offer behavior consulting, personalized
training, and people/dog coaching in the Puget Sound area.
Otto
earned several agility titles before he was retired in 1996 after a
short & successful career.
“I wish I had discovered
agility when he was younger!”
A
special connection with animals was apparent even when Maggi was a small
child. By the time she was
12 years old she had trained a chicken (for a school project), three
dogs for neighbors, and a duck who later became a local celebrity (very
local! The Balboa Yacht Club Mascot). While most kids were babysitting, Maggi earned extra money raising
rats for fun & profit and started a pet-sitting service for her
neighborhood. It was no
surprise when, after many of life’s twists and turns, she began
working with animals professionally.
In addition to family dog training Maggi also trains and coaches animals
for film, print, and commercial work.
The
Pack:
Maggi
and her husband have four dogs: Otto “The cow dog” (Australian
Cattle Dog), Floyd “He’s much smarter than he looks”( big, mixed,
and yellow), Jake “The Snake” (Border Collie), and Hank “The
Tank” (Border Collie).
In
her free time Maggi can be found standing in large fields working with
sheep and competing at ISDS (International Sheep Dog Society) sheepdog
trials (for local info herding visit: www.bordercollie.org
)
However, you’ll most likely find her at the end of a leash slinging
treats and training feats!

"My goal is
client education: teaching folks about learning theory and the use of
positive reinforcement in training their puppy or dog
new tricks and
changing unwanted habits."
"Both family dogs and film stars have
their own challenges and rewards and I enjoy both very much."
